Exams are over
Posted on Jan 15, 2009 in BlogI just finished my second and last exam this semester today. It’s been kind of weird only having two exams and in January instead of December like back home. Although there were only two exams, they covered about the same amount as about 2-3 courses usually do but then the exams were also only 3 hours and only took a small sampling of the material covered which was kind of strange. I was really panicked about passing the exams since I didn’t spend sufficient time revising during the holidays. To be sure I was ready for the exams I got up on monday around noon, studied till the Valuation Theory exam started on tuesday at 9 am and then stayed up to study for the Financial Statistics exam today at 9 am. After that I went home and crashed after staying up for over 50 hours. I was so tired during the Financial Statistics exam I almost fell asleep in the exam and at one point I read what I’d been writing and noticed I’d not written the words I thought I was writing but thankfully I read over the exam before handing it in so it seemed okay. After the exam I went home and crashed ohh it was soooooo good to sleep :)
This was a horrible ordeal and for the next exams I’m definitely going to revise much better and much earlier than this time. This was however very much worth it and I’m almost 100% positive that I passed both exams. You might say that I can reject the null hypothesis that I’ll fail the exams with a 99,99% confidence interval….
The reason I went all out to make sure I was ready for the exams was that if I’d have failed the exams I would not get the rest of my tuition fees paid by the Icelandic Student Loan Fund and I basically don’t have time to resit the exams since the resits are in January 2010. Whoever designed the Imperial College exam system is an idiot, it’s much simpler in Reykjavík University where the exams are in December and if you fail you can resit in January… Having to wait a whole year to resit is ridiculous.
Anyway I’m really glad this is finally over and I think I’m going to say hello to my pillow once more mmmmmmmmm sleeeep :)
