Who me playing games?

I’ve had little time to play any game at all over the last couple of months but I did manage to try out a few games for a small amount of hours just to get a feel for the games and see if I wanted to spend my time playing them once I have time to play games.

The games I tried were two for the PS2 and one for X-Box, Soul Calibur III and Path of Neo for the PS2 and Call of Cthulhu for X-Box.

First of there is Soul Calibur III, this is one of the best fighting games I’ve played in a long time, last time I played a fighting game this much was Tekken 4 and that was just against my friends this is the first fighter since Super Street Fighter 2 that I’ve been able to enjoy playing by myself. The game contains a number of fighting modes. First of there is the normal storyline mode where you go through each fighters story and this time it contains a choose your own path section and some bonus fights against various opponents such as a huge Colossus. Next up there is a tournament style mode and then there is a specific mission mode where you must do things like beat your opponents only by throwing them into the wall. Lastly there is a real time strategy mode where you have the option of fighting in the normal RTS way or via a normal 1v1 battle. The game also has a number of unlockable goodies which you will have to buy with the gold you earn from fights.

Next up there is Call of Cthulhu – Dark Corners of Earth which is a first person survival horror game base on HP Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. The game is seriously scary. You start off with no weapon at all for the first three hours so when something comes up you better run like hell. And something does come up one of the last scenes I played was one where you wake up in the middle of the night with some crazy guys trying to break into your hotel with axes and you get up and have to run like hell so they don’t catch you and hack you to bits. I had to run out through a side door, lock it behind me, throw a closet from the next door and go through that door and run to another room once more and then throw a closet in front of a door to keep the axe maniacs from getting in. Then I had to jump out the window and onto the close by roof but then the bastards started shooting at me so I ran and ran until I finally got into a warehouse where I was save. After that session my heart was racing so fast that I just had to stop playing. I hope to finish the game during Christmas break.

Lastly there is The Matrix – Path of Neo, which is a action adventure game based on Neo’s venture through the three matrix films. The game follows the story of the three movies but you have a chance to change some encounters such as the starting scene where the agents pick up Neo at his office but in the game you have a chance to escape. The game controls are horrible and the graphics really look bad even for PS2 standards. I see no point in wasting my time with this game except to feel powerful beating up guys in bullet time. But I have too many other games that would interest me much more.
