The Bear Complex
Posted on Mar 9, 2009 in HealthThe Bear Complex is an amazing exercise to use with HIIT/Crossfit based fat burning. I ran across it on Stronglift’s blog. Watch the video to see it in action:
Note that the woman is doing everything correctly but the men are doing the front squat incorrectly.
The exercise is suppose to be done with 5 set of 5 to 8 reps each with the weights increasing between sets to a maximum weight one at the end. The lifts done in the exercise are:
1) Power clean
2) Front squat
3) Push press (from front of shoulders)
4) Back squat
5) Push press (from behind the shoulders)
Those that are willing can then add:
6) Overhead squat
I tried 5×5 today with weights: 20/30/40/40/45 kg, note 20 kg is an empty bar, with the overhead press and was drenched from sweat after going through the sets. This is really hard. I’m going to try without overhead next time.
