Constantine
Posted on Jul 27, 2005 in MoviesMe and Sara rented Constantine a few days ago and decided to watch it, the thing that struck me most about it was the unnecessary changes that they made to the characters for no apparent reason at all. These changes included Constantine being American instead of British, him being dark haired instead of blonde, Chad being a teen, Papa Midnite already being thin, Azreal having short hair, Gabriel being played by a woman and Lucifer still being the ruler of hell. But I guess some of those changes might have a say, especially the Lucifer one because people would never buy into the whole “Lucifer quit” thing. But all in all it’s a fairly watchable flick but it’s not as good for the second time as the first time when I saw it in the cinema.

Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book Hellblazer and written by Kevin Brodbin, Mark Bomback and Frank Capello, Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), who has literally been to hell and back. When Constantine teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister (also played by Weisz), their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldy events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.
