Doom
Posted on Nov 2, 2005 in MoviesI saw the movie adaptation of Doom last week and it sure manages to fuck up the story of the games. They changed the whole plot, why I have no idea but that really threw off any chance of appealing to fans of the games. Instead of there being demons streaming from hell now there are normal humans that are genetically modified that are attacking the humans on Mars and so a cleanup squad is sent in to deal with the outbreak. Most of the actors were no-name ones except for The Rock which was as cheesy as ever. The main tribute to the game was a ten minutes clip that was shot in first person view which was really weird and unnecessary. All in all it’s a passible sci-fi action flick but it sure isn’t as good as playing the games.

Something has gone wrong at a remote scientific research station on Mars. All research has ceased. Communication has failed. And the messages that do get through are less than comforting. It’s a level 5 quarantine and the only souls allowed in or out are the Rapid Response Tactical Squad – hardened Space Marines armed to the teeth with enough firepower to neutralize the enemy… or so they think.
