Stand up show
Posted on Feb 10, 2006 in BlogMe and my friend Óli went to see a stand up show yesterday at Gaukur á Stöng. Before we went to see the show we grabbed a bite to eat and then headed to Gaukur á Stöng. We arrived about ten minutes before the show started and there was barely anyone there so we decided to just grab a seat and get some beers. Of course people were fashionably late like all Icelanders are but about 45 minutes later than planned the show started. First of was Úlfar Linnet which got the show up to a really good start with some really weird jokes which were hilarious, most of them were thoughts about how things are and why they aren’t a different way. Next up was Birgir Búason which got of to kind of a slow start but really got most of the crowd laughing hysterically after revealing some of his thoughts (I especially liked one about a Norwegian cult that wanted to release their own version of the bible and funded the project with ads. He suggested things like a picture of Jess drinking Coca-Cola with the sub text “Jesus enjoys Coca-Cola, aaaamen” or the Mastercard ad with “Jesus died on the cross: Priceless, for everything else there is Mastercard”, wtf…). The last comedian was Rökkvi Vésteinsson which was really bad, he barely got any laughs, some of his jokes were passable but most of it wasn’t really funny at all. All in all the show was great despite the end.

Hi, I found this comment while surfing. Sorry you didnt enjoy my part of the standup. I hope the other two comics, and the fact that the money went to charity, made it up to you somewhat.
As for there hardy being any laughs at all, thats not what I was hearing, but maybe we dont hear things the same way. I suggest you listen to this clip and tell me if you can hear any laughs there: http://lagmenning.is/rokkvi.mp3
I swear I could hear some myself, but maybe Im just imagining things. I tend to do that sometimes. I even imagine myself getting laid from time to time (and god knows that never actually happens).
