Making Money
Posted on Jan 24, 2009 in BooksLike always when new Discworld novel comes out I just had to read it. Making Money by Terry Pratchett is a direct sequel to Going Postal and continues the tale of Moist von Lipwig who has built a successful post office that works. Now the patrician of Ankh-Morpork wants him to revitalize the banking industry so he puts Lipwig in charge of a bank. Before taking over the post office Lipwig was a small time thief and crook so him being in charge of the city’s largest bank sets him into a internal conflict….
The book is a as all other Discworld books filled with dark humor and great storytelling. Making Money is also a great critique on the current financial system where Lipwig tries to introduce the existence of a non-commodity backed currency in much the same way our own banking system has been run since the 1920s.
This is a great book but I recommend people read Going Postal first to get to know the characters better.
