Broken Sword I – The Shadow of the Templars

I just spent the last few days playing the nine year old adventure game Broken Sword I since I never played it when it was released and I was feeling nostalgic. Broken Sword I is by far one of the best adventure games ever made, second only to Day Of The Tentacle and Sam & Max from Lucas-Arts. Broken Sword tells the tale of George Stobart’s visit to Paris where he gets mixed up in an assassination which when he starts investigating turns him on the road towards the secrets of the infamous Knights Templar. Alongside the French newspaper reporter Nicole Collard George is compelled to learning the truth about the Templars and the NeoTemplars which he encounters in his search for missing Templar artifacts. George discovers that the NeoTemplars are a group of people bent on world domination and of course he must stop them. The gameplay is wonderful, it’s a basic point and click adventure game, a type of games that have really been missing in the market since the late 90s. The game has beautiful hand-drawn graphics and great voice-overs which really deliver you the story in a compelling and interesting way. This game is a must play for all adventure game fans.
Rating: 5/5

In Circle of Blood (aka Broken Sword), you play George Stobbart, an American tourist who is thrown unwittingly into a murder mystery when a bomb blows up the Parisian cafe he is visiting. An international conspiracy unfolds involving a medieval manuscript created by the Templars, and the adventure ensues as you travel through Europe and the Middle East searching for clues to a mythical Templar legend.
