Push
Posted on Apr 16, 2009 in MoviesI went to see the movie Push last week. It’s been a long time since I’ve gone to the cinema and wanted to walk out on the movie but this time I had to really force myself not to do so this time.
Push is a superhero movie which has a fairly sensible premise and a solid back story (based on the comic book). Unfortunately the movie doesn’t cover the back story sufficiently and throws together a half-assed explanation for the viewer that does little to set the premise for the movie let alone get you interested.
This movie is about people that have super human abilities and a clandestine U.S. government agency called Division that seeks to control, employ and study the people that have powers. As I mentioned before the premise isn’t really explained very well but if you read the comic book with the same name but a totally different storyline it contains more information. In the movie two people with powers, Nick who can move things with his mind and Cassie who can vaguely see the future, go on a quest to attain a briefcase that Division wants in order to exchange it for Cassie’s mother who is being held by Division.
The best way to describe the movie would be to say that it’s a utter and total mess. First of as I mentioned you kind of get thrown into a world that doesn’t make much sense and that’s pretty much the mindset you are left in the whole movie since the characters actions and logic don’t make a ounce of sense much of the time…
Just don’t waste your time watching this movie nor read the comic book (it’s much better than the movie but still not worth it), just leave this franchise to rot in a ditch somewhere.
