Surrogates

Surrogates offers a interesting concept that states that the majority of Earth’s population no longer spend their time living their life but rather in the inhabiting the surrogate bodies which are highly functional robots that are have attributes similar to humans in most aspects only more powerful. Bruce Willis takes on the role of an FBI agent, Tom Geer that uses one of these surrogates to do his job when out of his home like 99% of the Earth’s population. The movie starts off when two of these surrogate users die while their minds were inhabiting their surrogates. The surrogates are not supposed to be able to cause harm to their hosts while they are inhabiting them but since these users have somehow died while using their surrogates that warrants a FBI investigation and that causes Bruce Willis’ character to go all bad ass and try to solve the mystery, first via his surrogate who is a super human robot and then as his regular old self which is of course even more bad ass (Super-McClane to save the day).
The weird thing about this movie is mostly related to the actors make-up when portraying the surrogates as they are meant to be perfect and there forth look like they’ve been airbrushed to death. This makes the film maintain a distinct and believable look which makes watching it enjoyable and interesting. Over all this is a thoroughly enjoyable movie for anyone looking for a decent sci-fi thriller.
The movie itself is based on a comic book with the same name. I tried reading the comic book but the art was not something I liked so I never bothered reading it. But if interested it is available from Amazon if it strikes your fancy.
